We are...We believe...
Wings & A Prayer is a simple ministry actually, it's just a time and place for a bunch of men to get together and socialize. We happen to include in that socializing an opening prayer, a closing prayer, and a very brief look at some structured comments related to Jesus Christ, His Gospel, and what we as men do with that. Here's what we think you need to know about us: |
1. We are totally informal and welcome all men, of any, all, or no religious affiliation
2. We are not attached to any particular church (we're a "para-church" group), but we are definitely Christian
3. Ben and Ed, the leaders, struggle with "Statements of Faith" and other such verbiage because the Christian faith is personal
4. There are only a few "non-negotiable" points in Christianity we'll state, but we're happy to talk more one-on-one:
a. God exists
b. God's existence is the Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit
c. The Gospel of Jesus Christ (He lived, died and rose again) is, like all of the Bible, truth
d. A "Christian" is simply a person who has owned their imperfection and embraced Jesus Christ as the only solution
We think a lot of other explanatory verbiage quickly gets into "majoring in the minors" and can become contrary to the Gospel itself but, again, Ben and/or Ed are happy to talk more one-on-one.
